Rev. Dr. Paul Ekal Lokol

Rev. Dr. Paul Ekal Lokol is a transformational Christian leader, theologian, educator and pastor with over 26 years of progressive leadership in church ministry, theological education, public administration and institutional development. He currently serves as Provost of Kenya Highlands Seminary and Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academics, Research and Student Affairs at Kenya Highlands University.

Born in Kalokol, Turkana County, Kenya, Paul Ekal Lokol has spent his life equipping people and institutions to discover, develop and deploy their God-given potential.

His service spans the pulpit, the classroom, the boardroom and public administration: spiritual oversight and pastoral leadership, governance and strategic planning, discipleship, conflict resolution, leadership development and institutional transformation. He is the author of four books and a published scholar on transformational pastoral leadership and congregational health.

He is married to Joyce Akai Lokol.

Ministry Journey

2025 to date — Provost, Kenya Highlands Seminary: visionary and strategic leadership of the seminary's mission, academic programmes, faculty development, accreditation and fundraising.

2024 to date — Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics, Research and Student Affairs), Kenya Highlands University.

2020 – 2024 — Principal, Tenwek Hospital College, School of Chaplaincy: developed the TVET CDACC chaplaincy Level 5 and 6 curriculum, led registration with TVETA, and built the school around the 5Ss — Students, Staff, Syllabus, Structures and Systems.

2016 – 2020 — Administrative Secretary, Africa Gospel Church, Kenya: governance, finance and personnel oversight; official secretary to the Central Church Council, Board of Trustees and Management Council.

2014 – 2016 — Human Resource Manager, Africa Gospel Church, Kenya.

2013 – 2016 — Director of Education, Africa Gospel Church, Kenya.

2010 – 2013 — District Officer / Assistant County Commissioner, Ministry of Public Administration and Internal Security.

2005 – 2008 — Senior Pastor, Berea Africa Gospel Church, Lokichar.

2002 – 2005 — Student Pastor, AGC Chepkutung.

Leadership Experience

Chairman, University Discipleship Movement Africa (headquartered in Kampala, Uganda).

Member, Kenya Highlands Evangelical University Council (2016 – 2023), and member of various Africa Gospel Church councils and boards.

Certified Transformational Leadership Coach and Certified Canfield Success Principles Trainer (USA). Certified Human Resource Professional — CHRP(K) — and member of the Institute of Human Resource Management.

International engagements include the Lausanne Workplace Forum for Africa and the Middle East (Accra, 2026), the ACTEA General Assembly (Bishoftu, Ethiopia, 2026), and leading delegations to international discipleship conferences and Holy Land study tours.

PhD in Religion — Africa Nazarene University, Nairobi (2017 – 2023). Thesis: “The role of transformational pastoral leadership in congregational health in urban churches of the Africa Gospel Church, Kenya.”

Certified Human Resource Professional, CHRP(K) — College of Human Resource Management, Nairobi (2019 – 2021).

Master of Arts in Christian Studies — Wesley Biblical Seminary, USA (2014 – 2017).

MBA in Human Resource Management — Africa Nazarene University (2009 – 2013).

Post Graduate Diploma in Education, with Distinction — Egerton University, Laikipia Campus (2006 – 2007).

Bachelor of Theology, First Class Honours (Magna Cum Laude) — Kenya Highlands Evangelical University, Kericho (2000 – 2004).
